A POEM FROM <\/strong>Chicken Man SSG Joey Broussard, Unscheduled Maintenance<\/strong> 187TH 
 AHC –  69\/70<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The Flight-Line<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up in the morning, I saw my way<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So dark, so hot, what a day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight-line was near as blades turned about<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I summoned my crew with a loud crazy shout<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riding with tool box over rough terrain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were close to the crews as it started to rain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pilots looked ready and high in their seat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As crew-chiefs and gunners looked tired and so beat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loading their weapons, ammo and all<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crew-chiefs and Gunners were ready to fall<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking of God, Country and Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These fighting young men were never alone<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission was nearing with calls from over there<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working fast to fix it, as crew’s watched and stared<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Red X’s to Slashes who could tell<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These men were ready to fly into hell<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lifting up to hover on this day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One ship, two ship, so many on their way<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These ships lined up like a thing of beauty<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ready to take off and do their duty<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stories came in as time passed along<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That we lost some friends, what was wrong?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We waited for news as time went away<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ll never forget them to this very day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We buried our own in our minds they stay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There wasn\u2019t a day that we failed to pray<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

God forgive those who did not understand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heart and soul of our fighting man<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t be sad, we all thought we’d die<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a country we helped see eye to eye<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our brother’s fell hard with bravery and dare<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
